This beautiful late 16th-century old farmhouse possesses both charm and character. Converted into a boutique-style country hotel since 1954, it's found in the village of Wilmington, located on the A35 between Honiton and Axminster.
The views from the hotel are breath-taking. Situated in an area of outstanding beauty it means our views are unrivalled. Views to the North are of the Blackdown Hills, and the East Devon rolling countryside to the south of us. And we're just 17 minutes drive from the Jurassic Coast gateway. With 95 miles of Cretaceous cliffs, spanning the Mesozoic, documenting 185 million years of geological history, it's a unique place in the world.
We are a family run business. Both Richard & Nat grew up in a country village over 7,500 miles apart. Richard in Bobbington, South Staffordshire, England and Nat in Nam Kham Yai, Yasolthon, Thailand. Both of us left the countryside on a journey to start different lives in cities. Richard in London and Nat in Bangkok, both having been self-employed and having diverse vocations in life. Originally Nat left Thailand to come to England as a Thai country singer. After a chance meeting in Wimbledon, South London, we both started a fantastic journey of life together.
A Change of Lifestyle
So, after several years of working in London and touring the UK & Europe with singing events at weekends, we decided on a move back to the countryside somewhere in the UK. Our search focussed on somewhere where we could build a business with a slightly more relaxed approach to life.
The drive behind our search for a new vocation comes after many years of disappointments when dining out. Both Richard & Nat having a real passion for food, we started to look for a venue where we could set up a restaurant and also host live singing events. In July 2016 we left Surrey to begin our journey at Home Farm Hotel in Devon.
Home Farm Hotel
Within the hotel we have 13 newly renovated country cottage style bedrooms all en-suite. Our hotel, from check in to checkout, provides a friendly home from home atmosphere. We pride ourselves on offering you the hospitality that is second to none. From your arrival, you will be taken on a tour to familiarise yourself with the building and facilities.
From the reception lounge area, take a few steps up to the balcony and enter our fantastic lounge bar. This is situated in the old hay barn, which leads to the outside south facing terrace garden seated area. Here you can relax outside on the decking in the summer with our gin or wine menu. In the autumn or winter, sink into our lounge bar sofa or hand-carved throne chairs from Chang Mai, Thailand. Either way you can get cosy from the warmth of the log burner in the corner of the bar.
Within our restaurant, we offer 22 covers and a truly unique dining experience. Our hand carved restaurant furniture, all shipped from Chang Mai, Thailand fits within the character of the building, which gives people a real taste of Thailand. We have a breath-taking menu where we provide help and guidance for everybody, especially for people who are not so adventurous with food. Our Thai food is genuinely authentic. We use a mixture of locally sourced produce and hand-selected imported produce directly from Thailand. We guarantee you will not be disappointed.
Now, after six years, we have won awards for exceptional hospitality and established a reputation for having the best Thai food this side of Thailand.
Our morning breakfast comprises of a self-selection bar then a choice from the a la carte menu. Again, all produce is locally sourced and freshly cooked.
If you are thinking of joining us here at Home Farm Hotel & Restaurant or have any questions about your trip to the West country, don’t hesitate to contact us directly and discuss your requirements.
